AHRU
Epidemiological database

This website contains information on episodes of hospital care in England from April 1998 to the present day.
Using HES (Hospital Episode Statistics) data, the website provides information on hospital stays and the clinical conditions and procedures associated with them.

To get started, enter a specific ICD-10 or OPCS-4 code, or part thereof, or a search term, into the search box below:

The website contains the following areas:

Counts
Counts of Finished Consultant Episodes (FCEs), Continuous InPatient Spells (CIPS) and people per year admitted to hospital, by diagnosis or operation, and mortality, by diagnosis, from HES-ONS linked mortality data.

Case-mix: clinical combinations
Diagnoses and/or operations that occur on the same Finished Consultant Episode record.

Case-mix: position of diagnoses on records

Case-mix: position of operations on records
For each operation shows the place on the record where it is coded - whether, for example, in the main position or elsewhere, on the first, the last, or an intermediate FCE.
